grant-admin-arch: Grant-Admin-News: NIH Continuation Applications

NIH has experienced problems producing its pre-printed cover pages for
non-competing continuation applications. Typically, NIH mails the forms to
institutions with an application deadline of at least 2 months prior to the
next budget period. However, no pre-printed cover pages have been mailed
the past two months. According to the Office of Extramural Research (OER)
at NIH, "due to a depleted supply of the special form used to produce the
computer-generated 2590 face page, the pre-printed face pages and mailing
labels for 2590s were not mailed in December or January. Currently we are
uncertain as to whether a shipment of forms will arrive in time for the
February mailing. An NIH Guide Notice is being written now to inform
grantees to use the PDF forms from the OER Home Page, and to mail the 2590s
directly to the IC Grants Management offices. The Guide Notice will include
the IC mailing address that appears on the mailing label."

For UO Principal Investigators who have not received pre-printed forms for
NIH continuation applications that are due February 1, March 1 or April 1,
with budget periods beginning April 1, May 1 or June 1, please use the PDF
form (Form Page A) on ORSA's web page at
http://darkwing.uoregon.edu/~orsp/NIH_2590-a.pdf (interactive) or from the
NIH web page at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/2590/2590.htm#forms. A
hard copy of the blank form may be obtained from the PHS 2590 application
booklet or by calling ORSA at 6-5131.
