grant-admin-arch: Grant-Admin-News: National Council of University Research Administrators Videoconference
ORSA's training session on Modular Grants, originally scheduled for May 18,
has been rescheduled to Friday, May 19, from 9am to 11am in ORSA's McKenzie
Conference Room (Suite 106, Riverfront Research Park).
The reason for the "change of venue" for the Modular Grants training session
is that the University of Oregon will be a site for a National Council of
University Research Administrators (NCURA) Videoconference entitled "Hot
Topics - Best of the Best". This videoconference will be a unique
opportunity for University faculty and staff to hear presentations from
Federal grants officials from the Office of Naval Research (ONR), the
National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institutes of Health (NIH),
and well-respected research administrators from such universities as Johns
Hopkins, the University of Kansas, Villanova, and Massachusetts General
Hospital.
This videoconference will be held in the Knight Library's Instructional
Media Center, Studio A, from 8am to 12pm on Thursday, May 18. The topics to
be addressed, and their respective time slots, are as follows:
8:15 am Electronic Research Administration--A Look at Some
Broad Issues
8:30 am NSF FastLane: A Status Report and Plans For the
Future
8:45 am NIH Modular Grants: What We've Learned The 1st Year
9:00 am Public Law 106-107: Its Impact on Federal Agencies
and Universities
10:00 am Research Compliance: A Growth Area
10:15 am Freedom of Information Act: Implementation and
Impact
10:30 am Conflict of Interest: Plans for the NIH/NSF Common
Policy
11:00 am Cost-Sharing: Where is it Going Now?
11:15 am Smaller Institutions: Issues in the Development of
Research Programs
11:30 am Academic Medical Centers: The Financial Investment
in Research
There will be a short question-and-answer session after each presentation as
well as two question-and-answer sessions for the entire panel. There will
also be a half-hour break from 9:30am to 10am.
Both University faculty and departmental grants administrators are most
welcome to stop by for any or all of these presentations. There is no need
to pre-register.
