grant-admin-arch: Grant-Admin-News: NSF Grant Proposal Guide Revised
The National Science Foundation has issued a revised Grant Proposal Guide
(GPG), version 01-2, which should be used for applications submitted on or
after October 1, 2000. The new GPG has a number of changes from the
previous version 00-2 and PIs are urged to review the new guidelines
carefully before preparing and submitting proposals to NSF. Some of the
more significant changes include:
* All proposals submitted to NSF must be submitted via the NSF
FastLane web system effective October 1, 2000
* The NSF Proposal Forms Kit containing hard copies of the application
forms has been eliminated
* Deadlines for proposal submission to NSF include target dates,
deadline dates, and "submission windows"
(example: the Chemistry division's submission window is the second Monday
of July (8:00 a.m., local time) to the second Friday of January (5:00 p.m.,
local time), Annually
* Proposals with high resolution graphics or where exact color
representations are required for proper interpretation by reviewers may be
submitted with hard copies after the initial electronic submission through
FastLane is completed
* Project descriptions must be submitted as PDF files in Fastlane (see
new pricing below for Adobe Acrobat to create PDF files)
* Current/pending support must now include foreign government agencies
and public foundations in the list of sources of support
* Review criteria that should be addressed in proposals include both
the broader impacts of the proposed activity and the intellectual merits of
the project
* All budget revisions made during the review process must be
submitted via FastLane
* Supplemental Funding requests may be submitted via FastLane's
Notifications and Requests module
* All no-cost extensions must be submitted via FastLane (ORSA
prepares, reviews and submits these requests on behalf of the PI)
Additional information on registering for and using FastLane, and for
obtaining UO institutional clearance of electronic proposals, can be found
on ORSA's web site at http://darkwing.uoregon.edu/~orsp/orsa.html.
