Two nationally-televised videoconferences will be available this month in
the Knight Library/Media Services on topics of interest to research
administrators.  All faculty principal investigators, department grant
administrators, accountants and business officers involved with gifts,
grants or contracts are urged to attend.  Space is limited so call ORSA at
6-5131 now to register for these conferences.

1.  "Gifts, Grants or Whatever?  Determining How Contributions Should Really
be Counted" -- September 14, 9:00 am-12:30 pm, Studio A
	This teleconference is sponsored by Society of Research
Administrators, Council for Advancement and Support of Education, and Price
WaterhouseCoopers and provides case studies and follow-up questions on
proper receipt and management of funds awarded as gifts, grants or
contracts.  Issues discussed by an expert panel include financial
accountability and audits, IRS reporting, intellectual property rights, and
conflict of interest.  The broadcast at UO is supported by the UO Office of
Research Services and Administration, UO Office of Development, and the UO
Foundation.

2.  "Intellectual Property Issues for the Research Administrator" --
September 21, 8:30 am-12:30 pm, Studio A.
	This teleconference is sponsored by National Council of University
Research Administrators in cooperation with the Association of University
Technology Managers.  It focuses on such topics as identifying and assessing
significant legal, fiscal and administrative issues related to intellectual
property as found in research agreements and other arenas with private and
public sponsors.  The broadcast at UO is supported by the UO Office of
Research Services and Administration and the UO Technology Transfer Services
Office.
