CHANGE IN FUNDING OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Important Notice from UO Research and Faculty Development, June 12,
2002:

The Office of Research and Faculty Development (RFD) will no longer be
offering weekly listservs to faculty on funding opportunities. Instead,
the UO has subscribed to Community of Science (COS), where faculty will
be able to get funding information on an individualized basis. COS is a
leading web-based funding information and networking system that
provides faculty from all areas with access to on-line funding searches,
funding updates, and networking tools. 

To check out the COS system, go to http://www.cos.com
<http://www.cos.com> .  Interested faculty and staff can register, build
a profile, and use some COS services right now. Services that will be
available to faculty in Fall 2002 include: 

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES - the most comprehensive on-line source of grants
available to fund research, education, and service activities, with over
23,000 listings currently available;

FUNDING ALERT SYSTEM - an e-mail notification system of available
funding opportunities;

EXPERTISE - a system for creating and managing CVs online;

COS WORKBENCH - faculty can create a web-based site to manage their COS
system and services

RFD will be working through the summer to register faculty with COS. All
UO community members will be registered with COS; however, once
notified, anyone may opt out of the system if they choose to do so.
