PRESENTERS:

Richard Seligman is Director of Sponsored Research at the California
Institute of Technology. He has been a research administrator for more
than twenty-five years, having served as Director of the Office of
Contract and Administration at UCLA before moving to Caltech. He has
been an active member of NCURA since 1975. He has served NCURA in a
variety capacities, including President and member of the Board of
Directors. In 2000, he received NCURA's award for Outstanding
Achievement in Research Administration.

Patricia Hawk is the Assistant Director of Sponsored Projects
Administration at the Oregon Health and Sciences University. Pat has
been involved in research administration for more than 20 years. Pat
began her career as a research administrator in the Office of the
Associate Provost for Research at the University of Virginia. Pat has
also worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office of
Research and Development as an Extramural Projects Coordinator. In 1998,
Pat returned to the university research community, serving as a
Sponsored Projects Administrator in Research Services and Administration
at the University of Oregon prior to going to OHSU. Pat's been an active
member in NCURA during her research administration career, not only
serving as a regional officer in Regions III and VI, but has also served
on national and regional program committees. She's made many
presentations at both the regional and national meetings, and currently
serves on the NCURA's Board of Directors.
