Grant Admin News: Workshops and Seminars on Research Administration

The Office of Research Services and Administration (ORSA) is offering a
series of workshops on Research Administration this term, beginning next
week. All faculty principal investigators and department grant
administrators are invited to attend any of these sessions. Please call
ORSA staff at 6-5132 or 6-3147 to register.

"Facilities and Administrative Costs (a.k.a. indirect costs or overhead)
"
What all departmental financial personnel need to know (whether working
with grants or not). The nuts and bolts of F&A preparation including
cost pool development, segregation of allowable and unallowable costs.
Methods for the allocation of the facilities and administrative costs
and the various systems that are used in the rate calculation.
Presented by Tim Godsil and Bob Swanson

Grants Module.

University Center Building, 720 E 13th Ave. (across from Sacred Heart
Hospital on 13th and next to the Dairy Queen)

"Research Administration 101"
A general overview of sponsored projects (grants and contracts)
administration at UO, including proposal preparation and submission,
account set-up, post award activities, and "who is supposed to be doing
what." For those new to the grant arena, or for anyone wanting a
refresher course.
Presented by Kent Hardin.
February 13, 2003, 9:00-11:00am in ORSA, Riverfront Research Park, Ste.

"Allowable Grant Costs"
What are the rules that you need to know; where do they come from and
why do you need to know them when dealing with grant costs? This
seminar will help you understand the issues and how to resolve them.
Presented by Gary Chaffins.
February 21, 2003, 9:00-11:00am in ORSA, Riverfront Research Park, Ste.
