Grant Admin News: Faculty invited to meet with President of COGR

Katharina (Kate) Phillips, President of the Council on Governmental
Relations (COGR) will visit the University of Oregon campus on Monday
March 10.  She will be available to discuss current federal issues
related to research including regulatory compliance, intellectual
property, foreign nationals and their involvement in federally funded
research, facilities and administrative cost issues and well as other
financial and administrative aspects of government funded research and
graduate education.  

 

COGR is an association of approximately 150 research universities and
medical colleges of which the Oregon University System and the
University of Oregon are members.  COGR's Washington office is located
in the District of Columbia.  Since its inception in 1948, COGR has been
continuously involved in the development of all major financial and
administrative aspects of federally funded research.   

 

Today, COGR's primary function is to provide advice and information to
its membership and to make certain that federal agencies understand
academic operations and the impact of proposed regulations on colleges
and universities.  COGR helps to develop policies and practices that
fairly reflect the mutual interests and separate obligations of federal
agencies and universities in research and graduate education. 

 

Kate will be available to discuss current issues involving federal
agency regulatory efforts and future activities, including the budget
process, related to the Department of Homeland Security, as well as
other federal agencies. 

 

Faculty with federally funded programs and their staffs are encouraged
