Services and Supplies

This category covers various miscellaneous expenses, including lab, office and field supplies; minor equipment (valued at less than $5,000 with a life of less than one year); photocopying, publication and printing costs; telephone; postage; animal costs and human subject fees; equipment maintenance; and computer services. If provided, instructions for separating these budget items into other categories should be followed.

Maintenance costs for equipment should be included as a monthly or annual charge whenever appropriate. Use of shared facilities and equipment may result in a pro rata maintenance cost for each grant involved.
